making some progress. slow, but steady
This queen-sized quilt is a beast. Way too big and bulky to machine quilt (IMHO), at least with my current set-up. I think I would need a lot more table space behind and to the left of my machine in order to quilt something this huge. But, I am REALLY enjoying quilting it by hand. I am using perle cotton on a spool and an embroidery needle.
The pattern is anna maria horner’s spinning stars.

I am new to quilting, spent ages researching and have now bitten the bullet and am halfway though a bed size quit top. It is large and unlike the smaller laptop type throw quilts I practiced with, I can see with a normal machine, quilting is not going to be easy as there is so much fabric and weight to contend with.
Your design and the colour choices are beautiful and the hand stitching looks so neat !! are you using any kind of frame to hold it all together?
Being new its a huge learning curve, any tips or sites you can share would be really nice !!
Be good to see your quilt when its complete.
I just noticed your post on Everett, I have never heard such a thing, a one year old having to suffer this kind of thing…………… my thoughts are with you.

Your quilt is beautiful! I’d love to see a photo of it all spread out. I’m working on this pattern right now for a friend.

Have you seen the Flickr pool for this pattern? It’s great! There is a photo of this quilt top flat there.
