I’m not exactly making resolutions, but I think a bit of planning is useful this time of year. Since we are planning a big move to Connecticut in July (not sure whether it will be before or after Derm Dad takes his boards in Florida), I need to get rid of a LOT of stuff before we have to pack up our house. I want to tackle one room a month. Also, I want to read through some books I got for Christmas.
My Goals for 2013
Majorly declutter the stuff that is interfering with our simple lives. Fill a box (or more) from designated room/s each month before the move.
- January: Basement!!!
- February: Craft Room & Adele’s Room
- March: Kitchen & Butler’s Pantry
- April: Master Bedroom and Everett’s Room
- May: Living Room/Library
- June: Dining Room & Front Room
See some cool DC attractions before we move.
- The White House
- U.S. Capitol
- Supreme Court
- National Archives
- Jefferson Memorial
- National Cherry Blossom Festival, March 20-April 14, 2013
White House Easter Egg Roll 2012 (Mimi and Adele)- Library of Congress
- Mount Vernon (info here)
National Mall (Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, WWII Monument)National ZooSmithsonian Museums (Natural History, Air & Space Museum, American History Museum, Portrait Gallery)Phillips Collection – Degas Exhibit
Finish Adele’s quilt. Basically, I have to put together a backing, then baste it with the batting and the top, then quilt it. I think I want to quilt it in hearts. I am still deciding whether it will be by hand or on the machine.
Implement regular meal planning using this. I think this will make everyone happier =)
Expand my cooking repertoire (learn new recipes from Nourishing Traditions, Nourishing Soups, and Mastering the Art of French Cuisine) and read Julia Child’s My Life in France. Try to find at least one new family favorite a month and add it to the blog.
Get outside every single day and remember that God loves me, I have my dream job, and the the world is not against me. Read scripture affirmations daily (to fill my love tank so that I’m not emotionally needy – probably TMI!). Read a book every day (naptime).
Spend less mental energy worrying about the government and the future of our country. I just need to do the things that God gives me to do right now.
