Master bedroom and bathroom

This room is pretty close to perfect. It’s enormous and not only is there a master suite with a jacuzzi tub!!!, but we BOTH have walk-in closets. No, I am not kidding! The other two houses we have lived in were both very old with slim to none on closet space. Having these walk-in closets is a DREAM!!!

I am really excited that we have nightstands and lamps. We’ve never had lamps that we could just turn on or off while we were in bed – someone always had to get up and turn off the light. While it can be kind of fun to have playful banter to see who will have to turn off the light, after seven years, I really wanted bedside lamps =)

Here’s the armoire that used to be in Everett’s room. Right now it has all my homebirth supplies in it, but after we find out whether our baby is a boy or a girl, it will have baby clothes hung in it.

Here’s my closet (super hard to photograph, though):

The baby will be sleeping in the cradle for a few months (that’s the plan anyway – whatever arrangement results in the most sleep for everybody will be what we end up with!) so we have the cradle, armoire, glider and ottoman in here for now. I think these items will move into the nursery after the baby starts to sleep in the crib, but we’ll play that by ear.

I have a changing station set up in the upstairs kids bathroom – since both the new baby and Everett will be using it. For the first few months I’ll also have a changing station on top of the washing machine downstairs in the laundry room (which is just off the kitchen) so things should be pretty convenient.

Here’s the lovely master bath:

FUTURE PLANS

We plan to get a huge rug in here, but I have to wait until we can afford it (moving and getting a new house set up is so expensive!!!). And, since we will have to move the bed to put in a rug, it isn’t totally put together yet (the headboard is just against the wall and the sideboards are not attached yet).

Also, I have my awesome glider and ottoman, but they both need washable slipcovers (neutral linen is my plan).

All the bedrooms are wired for chandeliers, so we shall see if we can get something lovely up there.

I also want to get different lamps and nightstands at some point as well as hang some pictures on the wall.

I am **hoping** to have this room squared away in about four months.

  1. Nicole! I’m so happy for you. This house looks so light and bright and spacious and wonderful. Have fun setting it up! Even though it’s expensive and time consuming, I envy you the chance to play with a new space! Can’t wait to come visit again!
