Entryway, Laundry Room & changing station

I’ve never really had an entryway before! It’s not large enough for a bench or a chair, but it’s sooo lovely!

Off to the left we have the homeschool room/ keeping room (which then turns into the dining room and then turns into the fireplace room/family room – like a long tunnel of three rooms separated by French doors), to the right we have the coat closet, a half bath, the laundry room, and then at the end you are in the kitchen.

Want to take a closer look at the laundry room? Since we are having a new baby and I don’t want to climb a million stairs every ten minutes (while I’m still recovering from labor and delivery) — two in diapers now, remember?,  I made a little temporary changing station for downstairs. And since it’s already in the laundry room, it’s a pretty convenient place to put dirty cloth diapers =) I just needed a horizontal surface to put a changing pad and diaper supplies, but the location turned out to be pretty great. It’s not as ideal as the changing station upstairs because it doesn’t have a sink (automatic hot water for the wipes), but I still love it.

This one is basically taken in front of the door to the laundry room looking into the kitchen/fireplace room – the dining room is to the left.

And this is just inside those little doors – looking back toward the front door. That closed door goes down to the garage and basement.

FUTURE PLANS

I want to put a countertop in the laundry room (so that “thrown objects” won’t fall behind the dryer), but who knows when that will happen. I currently have a piece of foam core covering most of the gap, but it’s just a matter of time before Everett launches his beloved “za-za” back behind there – then I’m sure a better countertop solution will become a higher priority. =)
