Napa Valley

We began our Napa Adventures in the delightful town of Yountville. After a delicious lunch at Bouchon, we went to Robert Sinskey Vineyards. They don’t make organic wine, but rather “Fine Wines from Organic Vines” =) We picked this vineyard completely by accident; we actually pulled into their parking lot to let the kids take a nap. I’m so glad we went in. I think we’ll adopt this as “our” vineyard and visit each time we return to Northern California.

They actually have a bit of a permaculture thing going on! They have sheep that they graze in the vineyard during the winter, they have bees and a full culinary garden. They have a daily Farm to Table Tour (which we missed because you have to sign up in advance) which consists of wine tastings matched with food grown on-site and made by local artisans. They gave me permission to grab a few cherry tomatoes out of the culinary garden and let me tell you – they were better than candy!! I might have grabbed a handful.

Now you are probably thinking, Oh, Napa, how romantic. Well, we had the kids with us, so while there were some amazing views and certainly romantic gazes exchanged, there was also some coloring of princesses. That’s how we roll, baby.
