I know what you are thinking – she’s only four! Well, she’s almost five – and, in honor of this new level of maturity, we allowed Adele to go on her first date . . . with her Dad. The other part of the story is that lots of restaurants were offering free meals for veterans today, so Kent thought he’d take his little girl out to celebrate her upcoming birthday a few days early. They actually went to TWO restaurants! First up, Red Robin, which was the scene of my own first date with Derm Dad (who was of course neither Derm nor Dad at that point) over seven years ago. It wasn’t exactly my favorite restaurant, but it was certainly the best date I ever had =)
One prerequisite to her being able to go on this date with Daddy, which of course she was very excited about, was that she had to clean up her messes in her room and in the craft room. I told her that if she didn’t get them cleaned up before it was time to go, then I would leave her at home with Everett and I would go on the date with Daddy. She replied, “You don’t need to go on another date with Daddy because you already had a date with him last year.” True story, folks. Both that she said that and that we haven’t had a date since last year. Well, have no fear, she did get all her messes cleaned up in plenty of time to get dressed and even hair fixed for her big date.
They look so much alike! (especially when squinting into the sun!). Glad it was fun and happy veterans day!
too cute:)
I love this. Daddy-daughter dates are so important and special! And, geez, why didn’t you tell us that you hadn’t been on a date in over a year. We could’ve watched the kids one night while we were there!!!
